Insights Aren't Enough. It's insufficient to have good ideas without the right team to implement them.
Some people think that a good idea is one of the most priceless things you can find. We tend to disagree. A good idea that’s implemented well is actually the valuable asset.Sadly, there are simply far too many good ideas that people don’t know how to bring to fruition. Yet, while this is true, this isn’t just a case for execution and implementation because there are also too many people who are busy acting with precision on incomplete or poorly conceived ideas. It requires three things: good ideas, consistent execution, and someone to lead the team. The challenge, however, is that accomplishing all three requires some fairly different, and sometimes competing, skills or attributes. Often times the creative mind can conceptualize a brilliant idea that can have a significant impact – but they get bored or disinterested and want to get on to finding the next great idea. Similarly, people who thrive on implementing and getting things done are often not taking the time or aren’t looking for that next big idea – they want to get things done! The real key, it seems, is the ability to pull it all together. To encourage the ideas, to marshal resources to ensure things get done, and to remain attentive to the overall goal. The net result of all this is that good ideas will never be enough; not in your business, not in your family legacy, not anywhere. To find the place of most potential requires that a team, designed with a mix of exceptional skills, work together to conceptualize, design, implement and follow through on key insights. It takes a team.
