What Do You Remember?
November is always punctuated with a moment; a moment of silence on the 11th when we pause to consider and appreciate our freedom, our country and those who sacrificed (and continue to sacrifice) to keep it that way. It's solemn. It's meaningful. Sometimes it's controversial. But notwithstanding, it matters. In our own lives, all of us have moments that matter. Moments when someone did something thoughtful, sacrificial, maybe even heroic. So here's the question: what do you remember? What stands out in your life? What are the memories that really come to the forefront, or slowly come to the surface when you consider what has mattered in your life. It's worth looking at for two reasons. One is to appreciate those moments that someone invested in or committed to, but the other is to take some hints. Odds are, the things that stand out to you are going to be the things that stand out to future generations. What will be the actions you take, the legacy you leave, or the decisions you make that will echo into the future; because, good or bad, they will echo. When you plan, and when you think about the future - really slow down and think about it - consider this: if there were a day of remembrance about you in the future, what would people remember?
